BBC — PATSy
PATSy, the application designed and developed for the BBC, is for internal use and saves hours of manual file processing each day. It utilises a number of rules to process incoming files automatically, whilst highlighting files that still require manual processing before being output for audience reporting purposes.
Login Screen
As the BBC PATSy application is an internal one, access is only available to those with a valid BBC email address. The login screen is the single the access point to the application and also provides a facility to request a password reset if forgotten. The design of the login screen conforms to the BBC branding guidelines for logo, font and colour usage.
Daily Summary
The Daily Summary screen is the nerve centre of the application. It provides users with the daily overview of the programme (PRG) files that are fed in from another source. The summary divides the PRG files into 5 separate states which use simple colour coding from red (file needs to be processed) through to green (files completed and sent). Users can easily expand and collapse the different states to view the channels contained within. The Send Ready Files button is green only when files are ready to be sent, otherwise it is in a disabled state.
View / Edit PRG File
For files that cannot be automatically managed by the application, some manual processing is required. This interface allows users to see the data contained with the PRG file and includes the start time, end time and name of the programme. Programmes that could not be processed manually are highlighted in red for the attention of the user.
View / Edit PRG File: Expand Programme
Should a user chose to expand a programme into multiple programmes, this dialogue window appears and enables them to enter the appropriate information, as well as save this as a rule for future automatic processing.
Confirm Action Modal Window
When a change is made by a user, they are prompted to confirm the change before it is applied within the system.
Admin: Manager Users (Listing)
Users with the appropriate privileges are able to manage users within the application. This includes the ability to add new users, reset passwords, update contact information or deactivate users. All of the application’s users are listed in this table with with their information presented beside their name. It’s also possible for multiple users to be removed from the system at once.
Admin: Manager Users (Add New User)
This simple for enables a system administrator to add a new user and define their role / access level.
